    you just proved my point. technique hasn't changed much over the last decade only the quality of athletes. the reason records are being broken is because there is a larger and larger pool of quality athletes to pick from now. as the number competitive swimmers grows so will the standards and records will fall. Usains records will last much longer.

    i would have to disagree with that, swimming takes SOO much technique, while running does too, but not nearly as much. Thats why u often see slightly chubby or unmuscular kids swimming amazing in swimming, but u owuld never see that in running...

    in beijing the 4x100swim 6th place finisher broke the world record. this is because more people are competing in swimming now. It is probably 10times easier to become the worlds fastest swimmer than the worlds fastest runner.

    why would 100 people show up at a state meet for the same event. wouldn't they only take the top people from each region which came from the top people from each shoot district.
