ok i was playing my ps3 ( little big planet 2 just released) so it all of a sudden disconected me, and it said dns error at the same time i was surfing the web and it disconected me., no i got my modem to work but my routers gone hay wire? what can i do ? _ btw evrything was working for around 1 and a half years, i just recently piuurchased a router , last septemeber working fine wifi n all, now it stoped working whys that?_

@ThreeDaysOfDan Could have just failed, its just an appliance basically. If resetting it to stock doesn't change anything it will have to replaced.

Sadly I've had expensive routers fail on me to... but the 40$ 5 yr old belkin thing that ive been using as a 2nd location has been happily chugging along since I bought it.

@beyourownit i have a desktop and i have a modem (Regular) and everything is green except the DSL it blinks red and it blinks green when it does that the internet doesnt work WHAT CAN I DO

I would ask your ISP to run diagnostics on your connection or request a replacement modem. DSL blinking lights usually indicate something wrong with the account or dsl settings themselves. Is there a DSL light AND an internet light or is it just 1 or the other?

not a bad video, but your explanation of MAC address relative to IP address is ambiguous. MAC address is simply the label or name as it were for a NIC, whilst the IP address identifies a host/node on a given TCP/IP network. They are not really linked concepts, since a computer can have multiple MAC addresses and NICs (Ethernet, wifi, Bluetooth, etc.)

@beyourownit yo dude i got a problem i think you might help me fix. K so my internet speed is really fast like when i type a site to the url i'll get to the webpage less then a second, but when i watch videos it they load really really slow like it plays for ten seconds stops plays again then stops. I defragmented, got lots of virus protection, have a registry removal program, spyware etc...and none of these are solving my problem. what can i do further more?

When I use my computer I search something on the internet. Always & always when i close my internet browser the dsl disconnects from my router!! Also when i go around the web it disconnects too! But this doesn't happen to me when i play online games on the ps3 or my phone!!

ok so my internet will randomly come in and out on me and i just don't know what to do, it will only come in when i unplug the cord thing that connects it to the wall, well unscrew i guess and then i screw it back in and it comes back for like 5-10 minutes

what do i do?
