Cheney Says F Yourself on Senate Floor

Cheney admits to telling Pat Leahy to go F*** himself on the Senate floor in 2004 claiming he felt it was "imperative" at the time.

Friday June 25th, 2004 CNN wrote
"The story, which was recounted by several sources, goes like this:
"Cheney, who as president of the Senate was present for the picture day, turned to Leahy and scolded the senator over his recent criticism of the vice president for Halliburton's alleged war profiteering.
"Cheney is the former CEO of Halliburton, and Democrats have suggested that while serving in the Bush administration he helped win lucrative contracts for his former firm, including a no-bid contract to rebuild Iraq.
"Cheney's office has said repeatedly that the vice president has no role in government contracting and has severed all financial ties with the Texas-based oil services conglomerate.
"Cheney was chief executive officer of Halliburton from 1995 to 2000. He resigned when he became George Bush's running mate.
"In response to Cheney, Leahy reminded Cheney that the vice president had once accused him of being a bad Catholic, to which Cheney replied either "f--- off" or "go f--- yourself.""

In a Meet the Press Interview with author Bob Woodward, Mr.Woodward describes an intense phone call he received from Dick Cheney.

"MR. WOODWARD: Well, he called to complain that I was quoting him about the meetings with Henry Kissinger that he and the president had. I had interviewed Vice President Cheney last year a couple of times at length about material Im gathering on the Ford administration, on-the-record interviews, but he volunteered, he said, Oh, by the way, Henry Kissinger comes in and he, Dick Cheney, sits down with him once a month and the president every two or three months. And Cheney was upset I was quoting him. And I said, Look, this—on-the-record doesnt have anything to do with Ford, you volunteered that. He then used a word which I cant repeat on the air. And I said, Look, on the record is on the record, and he hung up on me.

"MR. RUSSERT: What, what do you mean, he swore at you?

"MR. WOODWARD: He, he said what I was saying was bull-something.

"MR. RUSSERT: Let me turn to Tony...

"MR. WOODWARD: No, but he, but he hung up. Now, look, I can, I can see, I went back and looked at the transcript that he can—ever had a disagreement about ground rules with someone. Have you?
"MR. RUSSERT: Well, he thought he was talking, he thought he was talking to you for one project and you used it in another project.

"MR. WOODWARD: Well, exactly. But it had nothing to do with it, and its clearly spelled out that its an on-the-record interview. And so—now, what does he do instead of saying, Well, OK, I look at it this way, you look at it that way. Its a metaphor for whats going on. Hang up when somebody has a different point of view or information you dont want to deal with."
