What is this? Or what's it from??

It's weird. Everytime I watch old footage of horses, the first think I think of is that all these wonderful creatures are dead now...

Is it possible to get this on DVD / VHS or something? Downloadable? I can't seem to find it anywhere in decent quality. Of course I don't expect the quality to be great seeing how old it is, but surely there must be a better version than this.

Really great to see this film again after all these years. Its amazing how many of its images remain fresh in my head from when I first saw it circa 1966.-Jazzman Jeff

I heard long ago these horses were being trained to be police horses..that is why they are going through fire...dunno if it's true.

I ducked out of seeing this every time it was shown in school. I was told that a bunch of horses were killed. Does anyone know if that's true?

No horses were killed or harmed, as far as I know.

I saw this movie many times in elementary school and high school. For some reason my teachers loved it. The color in this is terrible compared to the original. I knew that something else was wrong with it, and then I read that music was changed. Orig music was great. Would love to see the original.

Well, the original music was awful avant-garde electronic crap. I much prefer my score. As far as color goes, that is what came from the VHS I purchased. You can find the movie online if you want to watch the original.

Amazing, I think I saw this film in '68 when I was in seventh grade. I only saw it once but I have never forgotten it. I have seached and seached and finally here it is on youtube. Thanks for sharing. I wish I could get a copy of the entire film on dvd. Beautiful!!!

I only saw the film once myself. A San Francisco band called The Units used it as a backdrop for their song Cowboy ... usually the last song of the night. This was 1978 or '79. I finally found it on vhs, but apparently the color is not quite what the original was. I digitized and re-edited. And the music wasn't very good, so I added my own. Apologies to the original creators.
