As one of the testers on this title (no, really) I spent probably a month and a half total testing and in our complete unofficial defense we totally side with you on numerous issues. Trust me, they didn't go unmentioned and it wasn't due to lack of effort on our part, lol.

We actually had some fun with squidball in multiplayer, which was the strong point of the game if there is any since it was a fun "screw your neighbor" game to play with other testers.
