Well, first of all, I thought I would like to see what the raw data from the webcam looked like, and then what it "sounded" like. So I did, with the lovely power of Linux I piped the raw data feed as text and then to a sound processor through the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture. There are some very interesting responses to the webcam's feed depending on what I point it at. Also I checked my hard drive for any problems as I was reading a raw feed from my external hard drive and the windows partition came first so I saw some interesting raw information from windows that you wouldn't see otherwise too easily. Not even with a hex editor.
@tjksvids I laughed so hard when I read that about 4 minutes after you posted it when I saw the notification on my phone.

I was feeding in my windows partition in a raw direct format, so that might be why.

I'm not sure what to tell you about that. You would have to do some sub sampling and some tolerance since it is coming from an analogue media. I'm only playing around in this video.

is there a way to decode a data signal from a wav file? I have a few wav files that I recorded from an old microcassette answering machine using my microcassette recorder hooked to my PC. this data signal is placed on the tape after the announcement and I want to decode that data and see what it is and if its anything useful. I've tried a few DOS and windows programs but all failed. do you know how to decode a data signal recorded in a wav file? I may make a vid on this.
