Often the media presents us with the common image of Muslim women donning the Muslim attire- a long black garment with a headscarf and more often than none- a face covering. Constant images of these women are teamed with headlines and stories which indicate that Muslim women are indeed oppressed by their families/menfolk. We are bombarded with what we perceive to be the truth, but what if we begin to question "the truth"? What if we look beyond what the media tells us about these women and find the reality of it all? Perhaps you will be surprised to find that you are not confronted with a degraded, belittled cloud of darkness but a pearl in the midst of a preserved ocean of beauty.
