so i clicked on this thinking he would granulate black powder, which he did. however i did not expect to see him MAKE FUCKING NAPALM. dont use alcohol or any solvent on a styrofoam plate man.

I should probably state the point of the alcohol being pure has more to do with it being water-free so not to recrystallize the KNO3 into larger particles making the whole grinding process kinda pointless. That being the case hardware store denatured alcohol would do the trick. This is Ethanol with 10% or so Methanol added. The mix of these 2 miscible liquids makes 99.9% pure easily achievable and virtually water free.

No offense buddy but I really don't think Methanol does form an azeotrope with water. Also using 1% red gum shouldn't hinder the BP's surface area as the red gum itself is a low ignition temperature fuel and will burn right along with the charcoal and sulfur.

But nonetheless my final stage of the BP granulating process involves taking the semi-dry grains and rolling them around in some BP meal to give them a nice fuzzy coating of microscopic BP particles with great surface area.

@ihatethesensors I'm pretty sure you didn't use 100% methanol as it forms an azeotrope with water. Also the red gum decreases the surface area of the BP particles, which would decrease the power of your finished product.
