Omar Salgado was on duty alongside Brandon Skalak as Denver Health security guards when they witnessed a car plunge into Cherry Creek. Omar and Brandon ran across the street, leapt down a 14-foot embankment and jumped into the icy river to cut 68-year-old Gary Lozow out of his seat belt and pull him to safety. They were presented with the Adult Lifesaver Award at the 2013 American Red Cross Breakfast of Champions, presented by DCP Midstream.
