I shot this small fish (Matsudai in Japanese), and this 4 foot shark got curious. I'm not sure what type of shark it is. There was two that hung out the whole time. As time progressed, and we shot more fish, they started to get more brave and interested in our fish. I had to jab them with my gun a couple times to discourage them for getting our fish.

  • dude that fish is excellent to eat!!! extremely good! did they end up buying it from you?? they were probably sand bagging you!!! Well its called a tripletail and here in the USA your not allowed to spear them....let me know what i asked..very interested

  • they did end up buying it, but I have no idea what they paid for it.

  • good shot! by the way tripletail are illegal as hell to spearfishing......dont get caught spearo!!

  • I had no idea what the name of this fish was, but I don't believe that this fish is illegal to shoot here in Japan. No one said anything at the market; however, they did say that it was not a good fish to eat. In 17 years of diving in Japan, this was the first one of this type of fish that I have ever seen.
