  • no pinky!! :-P

  • @ultrabot90 The output on the guitar's 13-pin is not MIDI. It has to go through a converter like a Roland or Axon, and then into the 5-pin on your audio interface.

  • @ultrabot90

Most audio interfaces are equipped with 5-pin MIDI, but if you had a 13-pin unit, I'd say absolutely. ;)

  • is it the effect used in the Erotic Cakes track?

  • @blameitonhoffman Is it possible to connect the 13 pin output from the Hexpander to the MIDI in of an audio interface, and then to a computer, while keeping all the signals separate?

  • @Ravenhunt

The hexpander would work for whichever strings you choose out of ten, but only for six. Unfortunately, I believe the acoustiphonic works the same. I believe it would be possible however, to double up on an acoustiphonic preamp to get more slots for piezo saddles. If your guitar is 10 strings single-course, rather than doubled up, you could use a 4-string bass AP pre and a 6-string guitar pre and merge the outputs into one channel. I'm sure there's someway it could work.

    Cheers. ;)

  • @blameitonhoffman Thx a lot for the infos, very useful and accurate..

So, lemme ask u this...i have a 10 strings elec. guitar...are these systems capable to work with that?

i'll surely have probs with the MIDI/hexpander part, but at least the Acousti Ph should work, i suppose...

  • @Ravenhunt

The Acousti Phonic pre is for acoustic sounds only, while the Hexpander interface breaks down the notes played on the guitar, classifies them by fret, string and which pickup they're played over and then converts that data into MIDI data, which can be exported to an external interface such as an Axon, which is then plugged into a computer with MIDI software such as that provided or Reason, Fruity Loops or some other VST-type program.

  • actually, what does this thing is doing? what's the difference between Acousti Phonic and Hexpander?

    it sounds like a midi...

  • sounds like something from old school zelda from the 1st gen nintendo. like when you go into the dungeons
