@MarksieBoy Original was written mid-70's by Nicky Newsome recorded '81 album
"When ah were a lad" six original songs by Nicky and Live Comedy between. If you search you can find vinyl sites offering the original album by Nicky. Tom O'Connor was the first to use it, then Houghton Weavers, Barnbrack, and now Frank McCaffrey among others. Court Jester Label, recorded at Park Lane. Publisher Shellbell Music. Nicky is still a busy pro and still works this song in his act. He lives in Blackpool.

It's good but your singing the words wrong..... Its "When ah were a lad corduroy britches , when ah were a lad saturday pictures".... the guy who wrote the song is a good friend of mine... a comedian in Blackpool called Nicky Newsome

Shand when I saw this name and clicked on it. I enjoyed the song very much, but I think I was expecting Leo McCaffrey. Are they related? Keep up the good work! I'm getting quite a list of Irish singers. For a while after Liam Clancy died I was too sad to listen , but I've lately been real excited to find new Irish singers.
