A magical battle between two mages in an I.F.G.S. event.

This was completely off the cuff, neither staged nor planned for, except that it these were two independent NPC's fighting each other. The spells being cast are extremely high level and lots of magic items for the ability to "absorb" are being used. Spell casting between two normal PCs would likely not happen the way it is presented in this video. So don't get the wrong idea. I happen to know what was going on but those unfamiliar with IFGS spell casting classes this would seem an unusual way to cast.

  • I dont understand. Do they actually have a distinct set of spells they can cast from and use to counter, or do they just make everything up on the fly?

  • @Bleizish They have a defined set of spells and abilities based on the IFGS Fantasy Rules set. Because these to NPCs are part of the script, they were taking a few liberties with the verbal mechanics. For example, One does not just say "Lighting Bolt 24 pts" without a verbal casting time of a few seconds OR if it's instant, one must say "Autocast, Lighting Bolt 24 pts on The Dark One" Both spell casters were casting several autocast spells without saying "autocast" or calling the target.

  • this is rediculous. only in america. maybe we shoulda sent these guys into iraq. saddam was only level 12 mana right? whatever happened to pokemon?

  • @MrYouremyhero

"Level 12 Mana"? LOL What does that mean? You don't actually game, do you?

  • What the fuck is this?? Is this what you call LARP?!?! This is nothing! This could have bin so much better! Believe me, the LARPs in Sweden are much better. This sucks! Why the hell would anyone wanna go on this kind of LARP??

  • @vinuristhebest

Um okay, everyone has fun in different ways. Never been to Sweden, so I guess I'll never know if it's really better or not. In any case, I don't think I'd slam another person's LARP publicly even if I didn't like it. People have different ways of enjoying themselves. We get enough slamming from the general population who's clueless enough as it is. Why fight amongst ourselves over who's LARP is better? Just have a good time in what ever larp you like.

  • SO. PAINFUL. BUT CAN'T. LOOK. AWAY.

  • I died inside watching this. This has to be the most cringe thing I have ever seen.

  • Oh thats terrible acting. my little nephew plays nicer larp than those two "mages". This is so ridiculous, it's nearly awesome again.

  • @Theatrefreak7 I can almost think that this is like theatre acting. If only I could act in character with my Chaotic Good warlock from Neverwinter Nights 2...

  • @4:29 the person in the jersey definitely got that armor from an in-game cash shop or something.

  • this is the most retarted bullshit ive ever seen in my life....

  • DAMN 2 deaths for a deflected fire ball

  • Some people need to take the time to look carefully at this. If they can get past the lack of action, they might realize that these people are having a good time being in character. And from what I can tell, the two mages are enjoying being in character.

...Is that 'Princess Bride' music I here?
