This is the re-recorded version from the period just after the band split up. Der Kommissar had been a hit in the USA and the label persuaded Andy Piercy to continue as "After The Fire". he re-recorded a couple of songs with session players and tried to get a follow up hit. Personally I prefer the original version on 'Batteries Not Included'

I could swear there was another version of this song, one with a harder sound to it-and a synthesiser doing the solo instead of a saxaphone. Does anyone remember this?

Well I bought the single! I remember it being played on London's Capital Radio but it then disappeared. Glad it lives on here - it deserves it.
