Prison is usually for felony charges of over a year or whatever state law indicates. Jail is for lesser charges like misdemeanors and for a shorter time.

This is prison not jail. There is a difference. Some say prison is better than jail. Jail here in NC is like daycare for adults.

I blame this really on politicians that don't know how to classify and name laws.

I don't even pay attention to the term sex offender anymore because its been diluted with a class of people that represent no harm to society.
