Great footage of Ali, who was one year into his suspension from Boxing, for refusing to enter the Draft.
He became a hero in the anti-war movement, when he
continued to speak out, at college campuses.
And then there's Cosell. Love him or Hate him....the two men had a unique relationship that endured, and was great for the sport. Classic stuff.

@ELSP73 So all those times he was called nigger and loudmouth and booed out of areans and forced to fight overseas is all erased because someone in the media called him the people's champ? Ali was despised by many during his fighting days because he dared to speak like no other black man did at the time. He also refused to step forward in the draft. As time wore on people began to respect Ali's actions as one of defiance to injustice and great pride in himself and his race.

Cosell and Ali helped make each other TV personalities--Cosell would ask Ali these staged questions to make people think they disliked one another. Nothing could be farther from the truth. They really had a special bond. Howard helped Ali with the entertainment side of boxing. Ali helped Cosell become a household name that we all loved to loathe--because he was brilliantly annoying. Ali never needed anyone to light his star but these guys together made for some very fun entertainment.

@zyxnix Back then it was inconceivable that a black man would talk like Ali did. Back then, black athletes didn't talk unless they said what whitie told him to say. If they dared to say they were pretty or great the villagers grabbed the pitchforks and torches! Ali is easily the most loved person in the world yet back in his prime he was hated. Today it's inconceivable to think blacks couldn't talk like Ali did, or didn't have the same rights we had. Ali broke the rules and won.
