@portoqwerty Im not saying thats bad, I'm just saying its obvious your strictly analyzing this as a pop song rather than as a musical piece.

lyrics are meant to be poetic and an art form if everyone was more literal and "put someone on the mountain" like you say. all art would be boring. it is very typical for lyrics to be critical, some lyrics have no meaning at all and make amazing songs. Also don't mistake syncopation for in-abillity to follow a beat. Your analysis makes sense from a "trying to make a super hit and make millions." commercialism perspective but not from an artistic expression and/musical perspective.

The thing is, the words are more or less directly lifted from English subtitles for the German film "Wings of Desire", so I'm not sure how one would criticize them as song lyrics. Is it more valuable to review them without the context, or does the context render reviewing them pointless? idk. (I'm maddieloveskpop on Tumblr btw, hello)
