Heard the news yesterday and was blown away, Gary was the soundtrack of my youth. Saw him in '87, '89, '90, '07 and was delighted when I saw him a few months ago, playing his old rock classics again. This was supposed to be a good year for Gary, a new DVD coming up, a documentary and even a possible new Celtic record with old bandmate Neil Carter. It isn't to be and I'm heartbroken about it.. My heart goes out to his family, rest in peace Gary, you're music and fine tone will live on forever! Blood Of Emerald!!

  • sheer intensity is what Gary's playing was all about

  • @porcupineplant

Spot on, that's how he should be remembered!

  • Wonderful to see that at the time of his death he had reached true mastery of the guitar. Absolutely fantastic.

  • @road2ruins

His playing was good indeed but believe me, I've seen him play in the '80s, that was something else..especially during the "After The War" tour..

  • Does anyone know what is the instrumental track played before Gary comes on stage ????

  • @viroflay

That's the intro track from the "After The War" album, called "Dunluce".

  • :'(

  • How I missed those days when Gary was hard rocking. Brilliant! Best guitar player to grace this planet.

  • Que maravilha!!!

  • Feckin' terriffic !! Talented beyond reproach and until his final day, never waned like a lot of his contemporaries such as Brian Robertson who has all but lost his style and ability. Gary will always be remembered as one of the true legends of blues and rock guitar. Quite possible that 'Lizzy were at their peak around '79 with Gary on board.

  • he was just back with his old rock music i would seem him nex mond here in holland i was so pleased and now it is al over :-(
