Poetically, Penelope Keith was knighted 10 years after this episode aired.
Wiki: "She was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1990 New Year Honours, and was promoted to a Commander (CBE) in the 2007 New Year Honours for "charitable services"".

John Rudling (Brabinger) was born in 1907 and this episode appeared around 1980.
-
He had cancer and died after the show endid . Few days after im told xx
-
Why was John Rudling away for a few episodes? Bad health? He looks very frail here indeed.
-
really?? hmm... interesting!
-
Of course!
Britain wouldn't be Britain without knighthoods. Last year, a human rights solicitor and a champion of rights for the disabled were both knighted. Evelyn Glennie, the percussionist was made a Dame of the British Empire. Hugh Laurie received an OBE (Order of the British Empire).
R.I.P John Rudling. Poor him, he looked so thin and frail.
