@acer3573 They introduce Ruprecht into the equation after they receive money or gifts from the women, thereby giving _them_ the motivation to extricate themselves from the situation... and they just stay put, lying in wait for the next unsuspecting mark.
If they had to flee town every time they conned someone they'd never get a good scheme going.

I never fully understood why "Ruprecht" was in the movie...if they wanted to con her out of her money, why would they want to frighten her with a "special" brother?
