John Scott plays one of Guilmant's most famous works at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue in NYC. This was recorded on May 30, 2009.I am really enjoying making these videos now that I am getting better facility with using Final Cut. Chopping those fast moving 16th notes isn't something I could have done in iMovie. I hope to get a better camera soon. Imagine if someone was running around 19th/20th Century Paris recordings all the famous organist! I hope these videos fire up the imaginations of young organists of the future.

  • You know Joe, there a lot of us who would be happy to send you our money if you put together DVD's of performers such as this!! - You should also consider submitting these to the "Arts Channel" on cable. These are without a doubt some of the most remarkable videos of organists which have ever been made!!

  • I don't know what the Arts Channel is.

  • Very nice indeed Joe! Organ & player alike seem very well suited to French repertoire. The videography is simple yet effective, and microphone placement sounds spot-on. Did you have several cameras, or did you do multiple takes to get the various angles? Oh, and can we hope to hear Mr. Scott on this organ in CD/SACD format in the near future?

  • One camera and I just cut the footage up. Thank you.

  • Better camera??? Holy cow! This one looks pretty good to me. :-)

  • John, you gave me the goosebumps!! You treat that organ like an old friend that you know so well! (you prob do) Thanx for sharing your gift that God has provided you with. God Bless, From Wisc

  • Simoly the best and sadly missed in London E.C.4.

  • J'adhère complètement ! tant pour le style, la musicalité, la registration que le toucher ! Avec cet orgue "anglicisant" John Scott a très bien rendu l'esprit de Guilmant.

  • That was really great. I attend St. Thomas Church and I'm very happy that we have a YouTube presence now.

  • Briliant!!

  • Simply the best.

  • Awesome!! Wish I could play like that.....

  • It doesn't get much better than this playing wise! Thee sound of this piece on John's cd from St Paul's (with the Gigout Grand Choeur and Liszt Ad nos) is wonderful. He really knew how to make the St Paul's organ sing. The left hand notes between 4' 24" - 4' 28" aren't in my copy - is this a different edition does anyone know?

  • YOU ARE THE BEST!
