Yes. It's the tide. It's a soliton wave..and it isn't caused by the tide..it IS the tide coming into the river. This happens on about 65 rivers worlwide, and many of them can be surfed. We get to ride the wave whenever the tides get big.

Yep, there is usually a wave once a month (coincides with a full moon and high tides) Saying that the wave size depends on river height, tide height and wind! Best conditions are spring tides when it's been dry and the river is at it's lowest.
