I made this especially for someone who was asking me specific questions about how my Rick 4001 was set up and what amps I was using, etc. I thought it would be easier to just make an instructional/informative video about the things he was asking and post it here for anyone who might be interested in how I get my Rick sound which is similar to how Chris Squire, Geddy Lee, and most other Progressive rock bassists get their bass sound. Most would surely have their own unique bits of gear, amps, etc., but the principal is still the same. I hope many might find this very impromptu video I did half asleep... LOL...informative and in some way useful. Thanks.

  • Are you filming thru a key hole.

And would it kill you to turn on a light.

  • @napolitano716 Well - since I was doing this as a response to a special request. I set the video up for several reasons, all that you NEED to you at you CAN see and me standng there in my underwear at about 6am.

If you can ont see what I'm discussing then perhaps it's not me that needs to have a light on.

  • @napolitano716 **PART 2** I chose to leave it public in the hopes that my instructional & detailed tech bits might be helpful to ANY other Rickenbacker Bass player/owner. I also believe I did mention the 4001 has long been discontinued by Rickenbacker in favor of the 4003.

No idea why Rickenbacker chose this, but they did. Things are different, but biggest is the neck. 4001 neck is thin & the 4003 is thick & not nearly as fast to play. Next most dramatic is the tone.

    I hope this helps.

  • man i love that bass man, what do you want for it?

  • Glad you like my bass, but no one has enough money to buy this bass from me. There are too many memories attached to it and it's never had any other owner than myself since I bought it back in 1978.

  • Informational Video by REQUEST. I'd like to request you put a shirt on.

  • @6ftUnder92592 Thanks for the suggestion, but I've not bothered to even attempt to make any further repairs since it is VERY solid now since the repairs I did make underneath and I think the obvious "battle scars" the bass has are all due to over 30 years of performing live.

I think it adds some "character". Maybe others don't see it that way as it is a true collectors instrument at this point in time, but I will never ever sell it. Those are just my feelings about how it looks to me.

  • you can even hear how much better the bass sounds than others even unplugged

  • u shoul go over the crack with like white nail polish or somethin
