This is a unmodified video, straight from the camera. I don't know what caused the helix of the propeller blade tips to show up this way. Sometimes vapor condensation trails, or "speed lines," are visible coming off the wingtips of fast-moving airplanes, and this may be that effect. But I've never seen them coming from a propeller before, and none of the other videos I made that day--or any day--had the same effect. (It's considerably clearer when seen in the original video format, so try HQ.)

The airplane is a Hawker Hurricane. It was taking off from a grass runway at the Military Aviation Museum, near Virginia Beach, VA, on 16 May 2009.
