The song was recorded on April 11, 1946 at the very peak of the King Cole Trio popularity when one might say they were "too marvelous for words" themselves. It was composed by Richard Whiting with lyrics by the great Johnny Mercer for a rather forgettable Warner Brothers film in 1937, but the song was used to better effect in the 1947 film starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, "Dark Passage". Here's a small tribute to the pair who were also "Too Marvelous For Words".
