Shed Some Light - SamurAidan
From the hit debut album "4-OH-1"

Lyrics:
Its been a long time since you last saw me
Plannin out my tracks with Robert Ste
But Whybredd fell through and now Im on my own
New location new vocation and no college loan
I got, dope skills that Im set to hone
Knockin back cups of tea like they was Patron
I got, Homies from Duke up to CMU
But Im a bonafide member of the OLDEST school
I had to leave my bros NYC to make this happen
Doin bio and CS when I aint rapping
But I didnt write this song to brag about my position
I just wrote it for the people Im missin
Shed some light.

This place often seems like its full of pricks
Wanna beat their fuckin heads in with wooden sticks
Sure were all here for higher education
But why that gotta come with an ego inflation?
What happened to the days where we could just sail by
Respecting fellow students like we did at Stuy?
I prefer the omission of the competition
And when I give myself over to my reminiscin
I take the past to the present; what I wanna see
And carry it over to my melody
We got finals clubs instead of frats you see
But don't forget the meaning of fraternity
Shed some light.

I roll with Naor Brown and Willie Yao too
Were certified members of the 401 crew
Basshunter and problem sets are where its at
No bullets just Nerf darts in our gats
The best room in Matthews, its easy to say
Especially when your initials are NWA
We got the ill futon from HSA
And our doors are always open if you wanna stay
The mentality, the Cambridge hospitality
For any of my homies who wanna come and see me
New streets, new city and a new home
But my door is always open for the people Ive known
Shed some light

I row on the Charles cuz its in my blood, son
But Ill always stay true to my gigs on the Hudson
And don't forget Kendo its my Samurai fix
Spend hour after hour swinging bamboo sticks
And in class or out, no matter the time
I create new experiences in art or rhyme
And I still have my dreams of looking down the line
And seeing that the lines are not so clearly defined
Ill make my path where I walk not where they lead me
Steppin over breakpoints like GDB
And hopefully once day Ill look back and say
I made my nindo, my very own way
Shed some light.

I got the whole damn city in the palm of my hand
But don't you ever think Ill be a Red Sox fan
I always stay true to who I am and where I came from
Each new step is a continuation
Of where I last left off, where Ill always stay
A place I hope to go back again someday
A place where I can really call the street my own
A place where I can reap all the seeds Ive sown
And to all my homies that Ive left behind
Im not the best but I can still spit a few rhymes
Lettin ya know to keep on your grind
And to tell ya that Im thinkin ya all the time
Shed some light.
