@VladDImpala Thank you for clearing up years of bafflement for me re: "what ever happened to..."

@rearly62 - Thanks for that (and sorry for the delayed response). Brian Auger told a tale where Steampacket played a debutants party outside London, at some big posh mansion. Before the gig, Jools, harassed by Rod Stewart hid in a room; drummer Mickey Waller threw up in the pool; Long John was passed out drunk; and Rod was shagging the debutant in the bushes. I know Auger somewhat - I must ask him about this. And everyone thought the Who were the bad boys!

@circles69 - She didn't need one! (Sorry for the delayed response!)

@MrCherryJuice Steampacket were a RnB style revue not JB's band. they were each top quality musicians and have been called the first supergroup (pre-dating Cream by 2 or 3 years). they had lead vocals on different tunes.

@testtubeblues1 - In terms of recording, Aretha may have had the jump (as a gospel pianist/vocalist), though Julie had something of a career before teaming up with Brian Auger. Most notable was being a member - along with Auger, Rod Stewart, and drummer Mickey Waller (Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart... ) in Long John Baldry's band. There were various recordings with Julie (who was also a secretary for the Yardbirds fan club), though with the Trinity she took on an exotic persona and was in instant star.

Jools is now doing avant garde jazz, with her husband pianist Keith Tippet. She's now known as Julie Tippetts, yes, she added the 's'.
Check out her solo albums, especially '1969' and 'Sunset Glow'. She's also guested on a few of composer Carla Bley's albums.
