If Bert Trautmann had been standing guard on the Mohne Dam.

There's every chance Gibson would not have found this funny. He wasn't known for his sense of humour. According to most reports I've read (and my father's comments - ex RAF) Gibson was something of a martinet with a very high opinion of himself. He also seriously lacked people skills.

I bet Wing Commander Guy Gibson would have loved this commercial had he survived the war.
Guy Gibson? He formed 617 Sqdn - The Dam Busters - and led the raid on the Ruhr Dams.... for those that are not up on their history....

Great ad, brilliant idea...
I still go into a pub and sometimes ask for a pint of Black Label without thinking. You then get the "The what?" look from the person behind the bar. Not a bad lager as they go...Although I do prefer a good bitter.

I'm not 100% sure, but this came out in a World Cup year.
Makes it all the more poignant!
