STOP Mandatory Internet Filtering

Please Pass This Message on to as Many Internet Users As You Can!
The Australina Govenment is trying to impose a Mandatory Internet Filter on every intenet connection in Australia.
Anyone Who Accesses Information hosted in Australia, posted by Australian users or which passes through the Australian Internet Backbone System will be affected
This is the Majority of Internet Users!
This filter will block any information the Australian Government doesn't want to enter, leave or pass through Australia.
The filter will slow any internet connection routed through Australia by up to 87%!
The Filter will still let through at least 3% of the sites it is supposed to ban, but will block thousands of legitimate sites.
Access to sites that contain material which breaches copyright could be blocked. This Could Include Youtube, Trorent Trackers, Social Networking Sites such as myspace, facebook and bebo, and pear-pearetworks like Limewire.
Governments in the free-world must not be allowed to filter access to information!
If one Government in the Free-world is allowed to filter information then others will follow!

there 2 sides to everything not only your point of view correct i as a parent dont want any child looking at garbage at the same time i want to be free to look up anything that i want. just like cable there should be a way i get access to everything and my child no access to certain sites.

That is why MANDATORY internet filtering is a bad idea. If the governement want to do something to prevent children from accessing inappropriate material then they should issue free filtering software that you as a parent can install on your pc to prevent your children from accessing inappropriate material but you can turn off with a password so that you as an adult can still access it if you wish.

why the fuck don't people set up their own internet with wireless routers etc. it wouldn't be that difficult, of course I'm sure the Corpornment Lackies would piss all over themselves and start arresting people on child porn violations after they themselves sent and recieved it... but take a lesson from Egypt, fight back!

1 question, WHO will determine what gets filtered and what doesn't, will it be porn, art, political speech, news... EXACTLY what is acceptable to you and more importantly HOW WILL YOU KNOW ... who's blocking what, will you know when your government has been hijacked, demcracy destroyed, politicans assassinated, rights denied?

@libbie7777 Listen there are a plather of thousands of working programs to filter your own internet from porn, the australian goverment released a free one called intreguard. It works I downloaded it to see how long it would take to crack, unless your kid has a major in IT he aint getting passed it. No mandatory filtering is needed nor is it moral. Take responcability for your own children there yours not the goverments.
