Analogue assignment & to put together an infrared detector (proximity sensor), as well as for a bigger sensing wearable project. The IR LED is incredibly sensitive to light and reacts within a very narrow range so I've used a biro pen lid with a very small hole in the top so I can *almost* get the test red LED to shut down completely. I also used an LED emitter and a transistor with 2 x 470 Ohm resistors on a 12V breadboard. The IR LED also worked very well with the telly remote!
