Clearwater, Florida -- The Church of Scientology is launching a TV ad campaign in Tampa Bay this week.

But the controversial group, which is based in Clearwater, insists the ads are not connected to recent news stories that slam the church and its powerful leader.

The ad push will target multiple channels, but very particular time slots. The goal's to catch the eyes of anyone watching TV at that moment, even if they flip the channel. Turn to another station, and you'll catch the same ad there, too.

It's a technique from advertising agencies' playbooks called a "roadblock".

  • So Scientology uses taxpayer money on Hollywood-style type commercials, while other religions don't? Gee, I wonder why? Oh wait! Scientology isn't a religion - it's a totalitarian political movement and a for-profit mafia-like criminal organization hiding behind the cloak of religion!

Taxpayers should be outraged at Scientology.

  • Any church that invests so much money in commercials is more like a corporation that runs business than a religion.

  • I have been running comments like this on every TC and Will Smirth video I can find. Well written, "totalitarian political movement and a for-profit mafia-like criminal organization hiding behind the cloak of religion"! Our words are contagious and the broader the audience the better. I even run a few randoms on vids with a ton a views but having nothing to do with the CULT, Keep the light shining!

  • Click on the ads. It does not matter who says what. The cults paying for the ads and the more it is clicked on the more the cult spends, that is all that counts.

  • I'm not above hurting the bank accounts of the cults members. Their spending power suffers then so does the cult in the long run.

I'm sure I'm not the first or the only person to run an autoclicking macro on the cults ad's.
