@carmanwilly Lowell told his wife he didn't feel well after his show in DC and was rushed to the hospital. He died in that same hospital. So that part of your story is folklore.

This great track is from the solo album "Thanks, I´ll Eat It Here"

lowell george helping rickie lee jones step out of the shadows, so to speak, as a song writer.....would have been a very cool collaboration, in my opinion.to hear them play together.......smooth..

Personnel. The original band that played on the first 2 albums - Lowell George, Bill Payne, Roy Estrada (bass), & Richie Hayward. On the 3rd album, Dixie Chicken, Paul Barrere, Kenny Gradney, and Sam Clayton hopped on board and Estrada was gone. Lowell passed away in 1979, but the band reformed about 9 years later with Fred Tackett & Craig Fuller now on. Craig left, Shaun came on. Shaun left, Richie passed & Gabe Ford came on. And that's the story, trust me.

The name of the band came from a comment made by Mothers' drummer Jimmy Carl Black about Lowell's "little feet." The spelling of "feat" was an homage to The Beatles. He was kicked out of the Mothers when he wrote "Willin'" and encouraged to start his own band by Frank Zappa. There has been some talk about use of drugs too. But, the bottom line is that Little Feat are still here today.

Fred Tackett was a replacement?? c'mon son, he grew up with lowell G! They were in a previous band by the name of Mephistopheles together.
According to folklore, When Lowell either left or was let go by Frank Zappa, he told Frank, I'm going to start my own band. Frank's reply was, "If you make it', it will be a little feat." Also folklore, Lowell had small outter extremities. But, that would be, Little Feet. I think the first conclusion makes more sense. I think too, Lowell was leaving the band. He did the solo album and was touring solo when he was found dead in a hotel room of a "heart attack". Lowell did like to party. Folklore?

Apollo, Check your inbox. Actually, Fred Tackett replaced Paul Barrere who replaced Lowell George as front man for the band when they reformed in 1987. In the 70's Fred Tackett was with Boz Scaggs for Silk Degrees I think that album came out in 1976. He also played for quite a few others before joining Little Feat. The young girl in my phots is Lowell's daughter Inara George. That shot was taken in Jamaica at the Little Feat Jamaican Excursion in 2006.

The geezers are Little Feat as they are today... Only Richie Hayward, (RIP) Sam Clayton and Billy Payne are original members....Kenny Gradney, Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett Shawn Murphy were replacements. Although, Paul and Kenny were very early replacements... like in the early 70's. Fred Tackett and Shawn Murphy came when the band reformed in the mid to late 80's. Shawn used to be a Seger sister and she was with Meatloaf , Dashboard Lights, singer. She is awesome and added to Little Feat.
