*PLEASE READ BEFORE WATCHING/COMMENTING*

This is his progress AFTER being broken in.
We spent 2 months getting him used to a rider/balance BEFORE this footage was taken!
This video is his progress after being "officially broke", meaning he understands his steering/rider/aids. And he was broken in to be a jumper, just like his mum ;)

Some of you may be concerned about the jumping.
He is 5 years old and has nearly finished growing.
He's legs/knees are fine, and totally capable of jumping.
In the video it goes by week by week of his progress.
*Some weeks only have jumping videos in them, but that does NOT mean I only did jumping for a week straight with no flat work.*
Pretty much all the jumping we've done is shown in this video, so it's not much.
It would be boring for you to watch if I only put in the videos of us doing flat work.

INFO ABOUT THE HORSE/BREAKING IN:
His name is Teddy,
he's a 17hh quarter horse X stock horse X arabian.
I bought him as an unhandled/unbroke 4 year old from an old palomino stud.
And he turned out perfect :)

I DON'T OWN THE SONG,
speed of light by coldplay

  • You BOTH look much more comfortable by week 12 :D. You are clearly trusting him to listen and be gentle with you and he is clearly more confident in both you and himself. :D

  • I LOVE IT! MOSTLY THE LAST 2 PICS ADORABLE lol

  • I don't think you break horses. I think you gentle them :) Breaking a horse is exactly what it sounds like. Breaking a horse's soul. I think you mend them and become part of their soul. You are an amazing person :)

  • I am utterly impressed! You did that completely right, and pushed him on, but let him figure it out and get all his worries out at the same time! I really respect you! Also, can I have some tips as soon, me and my Mum are getting foals, and obviously we need to break them in, and I want mine to be a jumper ;D x

  • awwh! teddy was so cute when he was a colt! and he still is cute! ;D
