Coffee farmers of Ethiopia are facing destitution. The collapse in world coffee prices means that prices no longer even cover growing costs. Farmers in Ethiopia are now lucky to make $10 a year. Prices have fallen 70% in the past four years and since the collapse of the International Coffee Organisation, farmers have been forced to accept prices set by large multinationals.

  • @junglemamas true but ultimately the effects from the coffee bean is what keeps people coming back for more and not the brand name necessarily..sure reputation is a factor but without coffee you're pretty much just drinking chocolate milk, milk, or cream..so they do have a major point...i realize your comment was over a year ago but bare with me here i know i'm late so don't give me a hard time about it lol

  • @visiblepulse haha soo true!!

  • what a moron, christ people like this piss me off...enjoy your coffee and popcorn you stupid twat!

  • world cup latest ---Cameroon 8- ethiopia didnt

  • one thing that is not understood by people is that the coffee bean doesn't make the value of a cup of coffee but the brand name on the cup. As they say when you ask for a cup of water "they have to charge for the cup". The coffee beans used may only make up for a small portion of that three dollars.

  • No one else paid attention to the background music but you. Culture, religion and people are dispersed in Ethiopia around the country. People live in harmony. The Jews and the Muslims in Ethiopia can not be viewed like their counterparts in other places. Surely you have heard peoples name in Ethiopia like; Ali Yimer Gebremeskel or Yohannes Mohamed Amare, etc. Be matured.

  • The background music in the beginning makes absolutely no sense! Abba Nega is a Muslim Oromo from southern ethiopia, but the background music is from the Jewish Bete Israel ("Falasha") of north ethiopia.

  • Check the stats. Ethiopians are WAY better monogamists than Americans ever were or ever will be. Also, I don't think it is clear from the video that he has three wives, as you have stated. It only says that she is his third wife.

    But you somehow came to the conclusion that he currently has three wives.

  • Okay, jokes on me. You were joking, obviously...Just in case others take you seriously though;

    Everyone look up dependency theory. You will find that developing countrie's only hope is to ditch developed countries and foreign corporations. They need to do what the US did to cure the depression.

  • You are right about oil prices being responsible for food prices rising. That said, biofuel is nothing new. The convergence of fuel and agriculture has been underway for about 30 years. It is a factor in world hunger.
