Nicolay Davydenko: Forehand Swing Vision

Nicolay Davydenko has a simple, yet efficient swing. His elbow is bent and his wrist is laid back. This is the so-called double-bend position. It emerges as his racquet gets rotated forward by his shoulders, and gradually releases after impact as the racquet decelerates.

The double-bend guarantees that his torso and his arm are nicely connected. Otherwise he would just slap the ball with his wrist or his forearm, loosing power and control.
