esv is so close to the original greek. the bible college by my house uses that version only.

Yep, did not mean to leave ESV out of the list. Quite a few WP Bible modules use that exclusively.

@praiseJah7 Actually, if you go against your rules banning independent thought & look up the Greek NT in any interlinear Bible, the Greek is absolutely clear. As well as the Greek indication that "The Word was with God & the Word WAS God" , an equally valid translation is " The Word was with God & God WAS that Word" (see Scripture4all interlinear New Testamant). Of course, JWs have to accept all that the W/Tower teaches (even if it's absurd), rather than invoking the Holy Spirit for guidance.

So many of the naive comments here, placed by JWs, confirm a confused theology based on self-confessed fraud C T Russell's uninformed and misguided belief, rather than the wealth of informed theology of the whole of the Christendom that dates from Christ's teaching, though the Apostles & scipture, the early Church fathers & a wealth of study over 2000 years. The question is, do you believe this, & the true nature of Christ, or the ramblings of a man who set up the W/Tower, only to make money?

@praiseJah7 Moreover, I insult your miisguided beliefs - not you. You are as much a victim of the JW cult as an adherent. Nor did I insult Russell; history shows that he did set up the W/tower to make money selling tracts. Also, when he claimed he was a Greek expert, under oath in court, he was cross-examined and found that he could not even recite the Greek alphabet. Please don't rewrite history (or 2000 years of Christianity worshipping Christ as God) to fit in with JW heresy.

@praiseJah7 If you are so intent on 'proving' that Jesus isn't divine by misquoting odd verses out of context please answer why jesus behaved as he did (see message above). Also, look at the nature of the Cross. Why did Jesus die? If he is not God iincarnate, then Good sacrificed someone else on the Cross - an act of a vengeful god who must be appeased. But if God sacrifices HIMSELF - in the form of Jesus, then that speaks of a God oof supreme love - which s what scripture is all about!

It boils down to what you believe: The belief of Christ himself, the collected thoughts and beliefs of the disciples, early Church, church fathers in the first centuries, and the collective theological understanding of two millennia, all inspired by the Holy Spirit, all of which backs up Trinitarian doctrine, or the heresy of a self-confessed charlatan & philanderer who set up a publishing house with the sole purpose of making money & deceiving others.

@praiseJah7 Please don't regurgitate scripture at me out of context, because that is what your leaders have told you to say. If Jesus isn't God incarnate, WHY did he forgive sin (only God could do that), teach and perform miracles all with his own authority (not God's), have the name Emmanuel (God with us), accept worship, and be indicted for blasphemy 'because he claimed to be God'? Perhaps you should drop me an email and Ill begin with you some simple theology that negates your heresy.

@praiseJah7 Again, you forget the GREEK. Proskuneo is reserved for both the worship of God as well as Jesus. There is no difference. Sure, your elders teach you this, but they dont allow independent thought as all your teaching has to come from the Watchtower. I have the advantage of being allowed to learn Greek & Hebrew and to access the work of countless eminent theologians throughout history. And NONE of the endorse JW teaching as it is contradictory and untenable - & rather abhorrent to God.

@praiseJah7 Please don't be silly. You cite Old Testament scriptures that were written in Hebrew, not Greek. The word "prosekuneo' never appears there!. However, where it DOES appear in the new Testament, the SAME word is used in how the disciples worshipped Jesus (Mt 28:17) and the worship of God (eg Mt 4:10) but in the New World Translation it is translated differently. Why? To fit in with the bogus JW Christology thought up by C T Russell - a self-confessed fraud - in the 19th Century!

The simple reason why JWs have no Greek experts in their cult is because anyone with rudimentary Biblical Greek realises that their interpretation (if that is what you could call it) of scripture betrays the original meaning.You're a Greek expert? Is there anyone on your organisation who is? No.
