This is a public address by Shaykh Haitham Al Haddad of the Islamic Shariah Council regarding the recent attempt to 'modernise' Islam in the form of the 'Muslim Marriage Contract'.
we shouldnt pick and chose, but if the school of thought we follow makes a mistake on something we have to search for the correct opinion, otherwise I would have followed the incorrect opinion in the hanafi school of thought that says the divorcee doesn't need a wali when she marries next
give it a few years and the mcb will come up with a marriage contract saying muslims don't need to marry muslims they can marry anyone of 'good character'
