This is b-Flat in baroque tuning, which is a half tone lower than modern tuning. And a is a half tone below b-flat.
Remarkable how she changes between legato and staccato in the coloratura passages; a demonstration of what a miracle a perfect baroque technique is. I am quite sure we have to thank the director for the slow tempo.

I like Gauvin'c voice but she is too heavy .. she should study more coloratura and be lighter!

The purity of that first B-flat gave me chills! So awesome! What a beautiful voice... I am definitely going to look up more from this singer.

Very lovely. She does this a full step lower than typically -- it's in A vs B flat. I like this pace -- it gives the aria a very different feel. I have to say, it feels more like Handel at this tempo, although usually done faster.

Il parait que Haendel avait fait chanter l'air a Alcina (au lieu de Morgana) dans ses représentations de 1736. C'est peut-etre pour cette raison que Gauvin a repris l'air. Sinon a l'origine l'air est destiné a Morgana, qui est la soeur de Alcina. Je suis d'accord que c'est tres trop lourd et lent....
