@dante9359 A cybershot that does video, I didn't know they had those out. Funny thing is, I also use a 4-year-old sony camcorder with a built in hard drive and touch screen but I think because your camera is newer it takes better quality video. I might buy a newer HD sony camcorder someday.

@jorge305022 Oh, forgot to say Friday and Saturday nights. Not the daytime.

@jorge305022 If you don't go on a friday or saturday, you won't see the pro's like JJ or Skye. They mostly go when it's super crowded.

@JediFarce yeah i just use a sony DSC-TX1 camera for ice skating videos nothing professional its a pretty good camera with great quality and its pocket size so i could take it in the ice rink and skate while its in my pocket with out having any problems, all the editing is by me by the video recording is by my friend who is now practicing on recording fast objects well he is doing pretty good he is still a beginner u know lol but all the magic comes from the editing thats all i can say :)

@dante9359 The really good videographers with really high-end lens can do the soft focus in camera. As you can see from the unedited video above its still sharp. The soft focus was done in post with video editing software. Downside as you can see is it sometimes gets too dark and makes the ice bleached out in the edited version. All these images was taken with Canons L glass which is the best they offer at the moment. However there are better lenses on the mark such as the Carl Zeiss CP .2's.

@dante9359 It's a difficult camera to use for video, there are so many options and opinions on the internet how the camera settings should be set. You kind of have to take what people tell you n' constantly experiment. A lot of people at the Ice Palace are always asking, "What are you filming?" I always tell them nothing in particular and that it's practice. They're kinda confused by that because they don't have a photographers background. Photographers are always practicing so they would know.
what did u use to edit the focus ? or its the camera that could do all the focus for ya ?

@dante9359 The Zeiss CP 2's produce very nice cinema type images, it makes things softer but clear. Downside is the price for one, each Prime is $3,900 each. Primes are not zooms. I'm using a zoom when filming people on the ice. So the Prime is a disadvantage for me there. They do sell a zoom but it's a zoom that can't reach as far as my Canon lens can and costs $29,000. Obviously, I can't afford that for the short zoom range it gives me. But I hope to buy a Zeiss Prime or two next year.
