what a freakin waste. there are some of us that can't afford to buy a brand new vehicle and depend on decent used ones.

@dborelli74 it's hard to pick up immediately, but after re-reading your comments it is unmistakeable: you are suffering from a variety of mental illnesses. I hope you are fortunate enough to benefit from quality care. Sincerely, Magda.

@MagdaRubicon Wow... that guy is stupid... anyway i now looked into how much insurance is in the states and its ridiculously cheap like that with the general i think... but im not entirely sure about that. but i think that the Canadian insurance companies need to get with the program and drop their insurance rates to what they are in the states.
-
@dborrelli74 Oh I'm from Canada thats why I pay so much I guess? Also I am 18 with a clean driving record and I rely on old trucks like these... I can't afford to go out and buy a new vehicle and to be honest with you probably never will because of how much they depreciate in value over so little time. Also a truck like that would go for about $2500 in Canada. These guys are ridiculous.
-
@MagdaRubicon Really? Please elaborate. Please show me your math that proves what a wonderful deal C4C is. What makes it better? The car payments? The higher insurance? The fun of being upside down on a car loan when it looses $5,000 in depreciation after you roll off the lot? The income tax you pay on the C4C funds? All to save a few bucks in gas? Let's see your math. Unless the old car is a basket case to begin with, you won't be able to prove that the new car is more cost effective.

@Banmanator I live in Southern Delaware, I have a clean driving record, and liability only insurance on an old paid for truck. I am also nearly 40. Bear in mind that full coverage on a new vehicle would be substantially higher. But that is part of my point... you need to spend more on everything with a new car/truck.
-
@Banmanator Dborelli74 lives in fantasy land. None of his math or the underlying presumptions are accurate.
-
@Banmanator He thanked the Toyota dealer for giving away their location because he was coming to assault the guy in the video.
-
@MagdaRubicon i know it is way late and you may not remember but what was SeberHusky's comment? thanks
-
@dborrelli74 30 bucks insurance a month?!?!?!? it costs me 275 bucks... where the fuck do you live?
-
@Chrisgarage1 However, maybe if they stopped blowing money on Uncle Sam and Statue of Liberty costumes, three story tall pink inflatable gorillas, and obnoxious advertisements with someone screaming like a crazy in an insane asylum, maybe they'd be able to afford to make an honest living. By the way, did you notice how he gave the retail value of the Toyota, but the private party sale price for the Dodge? A Dodge dealer would do it in reverse, so I don't blame Toyota. Car salesmen, however...
-
@Chrisgarage1 I have nothing against Toyotas. I think they build good stuff. However, I do have a problem with wastefulness. I have a problem with killing a perfectly good vehicle and ripping someone off (which is what C4C did, as I have proven with the math provided above). I have a problem with car salesmen who will try to make people believe that this was a great thing. Okay, I know that car salesmen need to make a living. (contd)

@dborrelli74 they must be stupid if they think a 2000 dodge dakota is only worth $1200 cause my 1998 dodge dakota with 208000 miles is worth $1800, sure the 1998 tacoma is worth a $1000 but not worth it when your frame rusts away! ... and reading the info about the family having trouble with this truck, they must not have taken very good care of it cause my dakota runs very strong with 208k miles, original engine and trans and it was a mill a truck! dakotas are great trucks! so stfu toyota!
-
@EarlStewartToyota So by your own admission, buying a new vehicle opens you to a huge hit on depreciation. The PRIVATE PARTY NADA value you give for the Dodge shows a $1,200 sale price, assuming of course, that this truck was in poor condition. The $10,000 RETAIL NADA value you give for the Toyota still shows a massive loss in depreciation. So I was off by $200 per year on maintenance. Big deal. So all told when you look at the true cost of ownership, you are wrong, they still got screwed.
-
@SeberHusky we have reported you to Google and notified the Palm beach County Sheriff's Office about your threat.
-
@dborrelli74 you forgot to figure in that they paid $19,000 for it in 2001 and it was worth about $1,200 in 2009 - that's $17,800 they lost depreciation. They put $3000 down and they spent near $800/year in repairs (not maintenance)- not getting that back. A 2000 Tacoma sold for $19000 new is worth around $7000 now (in 2009 about $10K). So you left off a HUGE piece in your simplistic calculation. All told, when you look at the true cost of ownership, they are to the good for about $200/month.
