This dose not hurt the goose at all I have raised geese some of my geese actually came right to me so they could have there down plucked In the summer.didn't pluck in winter though

Did you know that any young bird SHEDS all its feathers naturally many times as it grows to maturity??? So if you tried to do the plucking at the wrong time, it would hurt the bird and rip the skin. They are NOT being damaged, and will yell just as loud if you sat there held them on your lap and held them!!! BET NOT ONE of you has actually ever HELD a goose on your lap! LOL
