Quill was the first band on the the second day, Saturday, the 16th. They started ca. at 12:15 pm. Quill were not known before Woodstock and also not after Woodstock. They disbanded after Woodstock due to the fact that a technical recording problem made it impossible for the band to be in the Woodstock movie and their label, Cotillion Records (Atlantic) refused to promote the band.
01. They Live the Life
02. That's How I Eat
03. Driftin'
04. Waitin' for You
Jon Cole - bass, vocals
Dan Cole - vocals and percussion
Roger North - drums and percussion
Norman Rogers - guitar, vocals
Phil Thayer - keyboard, saxophone, flute, percussion
Setlist information is based upon information from Roger North, the drummer of Quill. He claimed that Quill played for 40 minutes but that's exaggerated. The last three songs from their setlist could be restored and they have a running time of 18 minutes.
Many Woodstock set list sources mistakenly identify the song "That's How I Eat" (as listed on their sole album The Qill (1970)) as "BBY".
"Waitin' for You" is a song which incorporates the audience. Quill used to hand out various percussion instruments so everybody can join the music. This may have worked at smaller venues but failed at a 500,000 people crowd at Woodstock.
Im sure glad they spent money on some good talent at this gig. If they had to rely on these guys..there would have been a riot for sure....they sound absolutely horrible

@ifhgsfj That's probably the right thing to say for just about every performance at woodstock.

Great album too--the one on Cotillion--the same little label that brought you ELP and Mr. Flood's Party

@ifhgsfj Oh, gosh no. When I went to see them, I'd never heard of them and, of course, knew nothing of their material. But I dug them enough to go back and catch the second night. No idea what they played. It was 30 years ago!
