Sergei Prokofiev: Symphony 5 (1st mvmt)

On April 11, 1991 I recorded this concert by the Belgian Broadcasting Orchestra conducted by Leopold Hager of May 17, 1990, playing one of the greatest musical masterpieces of the 20th century, the 5th symphony of Sergei Prokofiev.
Though the picture quality is not apex - the broadcast was repeatedly struck by channel interference, causing moving lines in especially the first movement - I upload it nevertheless as the performance is really stunning and of a very rare and beautiful sonority. The camerawork is also truly exciting.

Excellent! I was not aware that Hager conducted any Prokofiev at all. This sounds quite convincing! He should have done more Prokofiev. I believe Hager was best known for his Mozart operas and other Germanic repertory. This is a very fine interpretation of the first movement of the Prokofiev 5th. Bravo! By the way, Hager is still alive and may well still be active.
