  • The engine is driving the alternator through a 1:1 pulley, in the video the alternator is generating 1 KW AC at 37 Hz, this corresponds to 1110 RPM. The governor is not very good, the off load speed is very much higher than the on load speed and the cold speed.

  • what is the pulley ratio? sounds like its running under 1800 rpm

  • The pulley ratio is 1:1, the engine is running at 1110 RPM, 37 Hz. The speed regulation is poor, in the film it is running with a 1KW load and cold. off load it runs at 1500 RPM when warm.

  • You will want to raise the frequency, or you are going to damage any inductive loads. Motors will overheat and burn out in no time at 37 Hz.

  • not sure how petters govern (assuming that there is even an internal governor!)but if its anything like a lister, you should be able to greatly tighten it up

  • That engine has a wonderful sound. I love the way it slowly spools up. :)
