I've worked a lot of different jobs in my life, from grave digger to professor, but I have to say that being a security guard was one of the best. I worked as a graveyard shift guard for a year during college, and even though I knew it wasn't going to be a career for me, I had a great time.

I've done security work after I lost my job as a store manager.It's definantly not a career stop. It's just means to an end when you need some quick easy cash b/c they pay you for doing bullish work. It's a good job to have if you are in school or planning on starting a business so you can have extra $ for emergencies. Anyone who wants this job for life is lacking alot of motivation. I have seen a few of them too.

There is no such thing as a career in Security. In Canada, the security industry is a joke. Guards are not allowed to carry weapons of any kind, they are not allowed to use force when necessary, and they are nothing more than rent-a-cops.

As a S/O I make average income however taxes are real high for this occupation, but for getting paid to do NOTHING its ok.. I sit at a lobby desk, surf the internet, pick my nose, and walk around a building with a radio and yes Im GED qualified!
