@missh2oluv All it's doing at this point is repeating. It doesn't have to know what it's saying to repeat it. If you say hello to it in 12 different languages over and over again or treat train it to say it, it's going to say it all eventually. Check out the parrot Einstein on Pet Star. Parrots can learn to respond to different stimuli or words.

@adrimare1 no but who can teach a bird how 2 speak 12 DIFFERENT LANGUAGES
-
"MOI" can also be French for "ME" ;)

@missh2oluv I certainly hope you're joking. Or are you one of those people who believe that birds from the parrot family can't actually make words come out of their beaks?

I agree, and we can make some sense of her natural sounds and body language. The problem is, while parrots have the innate ability to learn language, Bibi has never learned to speak parrot. Among African Greys, every flock has its own dialect, and there is evidence that they even identify each other by unique names.

They probably would have name's liveing in such big groups how else would they identify each other, But wouldn't that allso mean they have a sense of self?

They definitely have a sense of self. Bibi also knows the names of her entire flock, including 3 dogs and 2 cats. She tells us what she wants to eat, and can even identify what we are eating from across the room. She understands the concepts of color and shape. When she wants to go to sleep, she tells us...in 3 languages. First thing in the morning, she says good morning, and she is potty trained...sort of.

U can tell there is a tape in the background

I assure you there is no tape in the background. All of Bibi's videos are real. Actually, she can now say "hello" in 20 languages and she can count 1-5 in English, German, Japanese, and Chinese. She can also count 1-3 in Korean, and Spanish. Her total vocabulary is well over 200 words.
