  • I wish he wouldn't have said "...a $15 or $20 investment...". @8:18 They have never been that price. They will be eventually but not yet.

  • Arc faults are also created when pets chew on cords. Use extra caution especially if you got cat(s) and Christmas lights. I saw a video where someones cat was running around in the Christmas tree chewing at the lighting cords. Please do not allow this as your pet could get electrocuted or a fire could start. When a pet chews cords pin holes are created and sometimes insulation stripped from the cord. A bare wire next to a metal ornament hook will create an arc = TREE FIRE!

  • The problem is that many appliances are designed to allow some arcing. I added an AFCI/GFCI to the circuit that powers my finished basement. It caught a legitimate shared-neutral problem that dated from when the house was built. But it sometimes trips when I use an old TV for which the owners manual says arc noises are to be expected. It also trips when I use any vacuum cleaner on a dry day. There should be a way to isolate appliances like this from AFCI protected circuits.
