Area B is a residential area of rotaries and winding streets designed to test the vehicle's lane following, navigation, obstacle avoidance, parking, signaling, and turning. Talos, MIT's vehicle, completed the course in 26 minutes, one of only two vehicles that day to do so.

Team MIT is a collaborative effort between MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Department of Mechanical Engineering, along with students and faculty from Olin College and members of the Draper Laboratory.
