Ou Ning is a writer, artist and curator. Here he tells us about a magazine called '0086' and it`s target group: the so called post-eighties generation. People born in the 1080`s. All this filled in with lots of nice footage from in and around Beijing of course. :-)

  • If you are REALLY talking about a "global" world, it would be important to point out that majority of the population in China, youth included, live in RURAL or semi-rural China. The so-called "post-80s" generation refer to a very small group of people.

Also, the generalization that Hong Kong is the backstage of critical consciousness in contemporary China is also mistaken. Many Chinese intellectuals are actively involved in the youth world without resorting to HK as Mecca of freedom.
