when i was a kid(5 years old)... i didn't have sheets of music...so i played and learned by myself some musics...my first one was the Sound of music Theme

1:18 Playing that C sounds fine to me. You are harmonizing the F anyway when playing a C chord, and since (Jesus Loves Me being one of the exceptions) songs don't always have chords that are played exactly at the same time as the singing melody and are a perfect I VI V chord progression this is a little irrelevant to anything outside of gospel music, but you bring up some great points as far as playing by ear here. Just my input, thanks for all the videos!
